Program Director

Cowlitz County CASA is a powerful voice, advocating for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the dependency court system in our community. The Program Director will coordinate the volunteer supervising team to ensure that our children are being served to the best of our ability and that volunteers receive the training and support they need. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director and works with a team of four volunteer supervisors and an administrative assistant.

candidate qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology or closely related field. A Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology is strongly preferred.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have five (5) years of relevant, progressively responsible social work, social services work, program planning, dependency related experience, operations and/or management that includes two (2) years of staff management and/or supervision OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

day in the life

• In conjunction with the Executive Director, review, revise, and execute effective training programs for CASA volunteers, and staff members.
• Check, respond to, and manage multiple forms of incoming and outgoing communication via email, postal mail, texts, telephone, and fax.
• Ensure all volunteer records are collected, maintained, and stored in compliance with volunteer record retention laws, best practices, and standards.
• Collect and manage volunteer-related statistics, demographics, and training records.
• Establish and maintain a list of viable sources for ongoing recruitment of CASA appropriate volunteers and interns. Seek out, schedule, and attend public & private outreach opportunities for education and recruitment of volunteers.
• Ensure issues of diversity, inclusion, disproportionality, and cultural responsiveness are thoughtfully considered and effectively addressed in CASA’s internal and external work with volunteers and staff and for children and families.
• Ensure that clients, staff, volunteers and community partners are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background.
• Establish and maintain effective volunteer appreciation activities and events.
• As needed, advocate for a caseload of children in foster care assigned to the CASA Program, maintaining a minimum of monthly contact.
• Ensure a continued emphasis on engaging families and providing trauma-informed advocacy.
• Provide direct supervision, guidance, and professional development to program team and volunteers to ensure continued success of the CASA program.
• Distribute new cases in a strategic and equitable manner.
• Collaborate with Executive Director to conduct annual performance evaluations and oversee the hiring and onboarding of new program staff.
• Ensure that CASA’s day-to-day programmatic operations meet or exceed Washington State CASA and National CASA standards, are in full compliance with all Cowlitz County CASA policies, and fulfill CASA’s obligations as guardian ad litem under Washington State law as well.
• Act as the liaison for Washington State CASA, including participating in Program Manager Meetings, regional meetings, strategic planning, state conference, and support statewide legislative efforts.
• Ensure that CASA’s volunteer recruitment, screening, training and retention efforts are strategic and equip CASA with well-prepared volunteers in adequate numbers to meet the program’s needs.

Compensation

• Salary Range $56-60,000 per year
