Job Description

Classification:

The executive director is a full-time salaried exempt employee and is directly accountable to the Board of Trustees (“CASA Board”).


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will likely have a minimum of a bachelor''''s degree in social sciences, business administration, public administration or another related area, and a minimum of five years demonstrated successful management and supervisory experience. The position requires strong organizational and analytical skills with knowledge of financial statements, budgeting process, and accounting procedures. The executive director must have experience in strategic planning, organizational management, meeting fundraising goals, community relations, and meeting volunteer objectives. The position requires a strategic thinker with excellent written and oral communication skills who can work effectively with the governing Board and direct program staff and volunteers.

Duties:

The executive director is the chief administrative officer of CASA and shall provide executive management services and perform such other duties and services as may be entrusted by the CASA Board. The following is a general summary of major areas of activities and responsibilities. This is not a list of exclusive duties, but a sampling of the expectations of the position.


1. Leadership and Accountability
• Plans and coordinates with the CASA Board the development of program policies.
• Implements policies and procedures as outlined by the CASA Board.
• Acts as a liaison to the CASA Board and any other unit serving in an advisory or support capacity to the organization and all their functioning committees.
• Leads the implementation of a Board approved strategic plan for organizational growth.
• Attends or is represented by a designee at all meetings of the CASA Board and its committees.
• Develops, directs, and participates in the preparation of the annual report, fiscal reports, statistical reports, agendas, minutes and program reports for the Board and committees as appropriate.

2. Financial
• Responsible for the overall financial management and fundraising of the organization.
• Oversees daily financial management, including financial statements, payroll, taxes, and other financial responsibilities.
• Develops and manages annual budget in collaboration with the Treasurer and with oversight of the CASA Board
• Oversees annual audit process.

3. Marketing and Development
• In collaboration with the CASA Board, develops strategies for and implements/manages annual donor campaigns, fundraising events, and community appeals as appropriate.
• Oversees development and implementation of fundraising plans to secure adequate funding, including preparing and supervising foundation grants and corporate proposals.
• Seeks out speaking engagement opportunities and acts as CASA spokesperson at civic, community and other relevant events.
• Acts as liaison to media.
• Develops, implements and manages agency public relations and marketing plans and agency crisis plan.
• Oversees the preparation and distribution of printed materials, including newsletter, brochure, press packets, as well as social media plans and website design.

4. Staffing
• Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, coaches, and evaluates CASA staff.
• Oversees recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of CASA/GAL volunteers.
• Ensures personnel management is carried out in accord with CASA policy.
• Provides for staff development, as appropriate.

5. Program
• Oversees effective implementation and management of CASA policies and procedures.
• Assures compliance with National CASA Association and the Ohio CASA Association standards.
• Maintains regular contact with the judicial and administrative staff of the court.
• Acts as liaison to Court of Common Pleas, Division of Domestic Relations and Juvenile Branch. Franklin County Children Services. National CASA Association. Ohio CASA Association, and other relevant child welfare and juvenile justice system professionals and organizations.



Outside Employment

The executive director shall devote his/her full time and energy to performing the duties of the position on behalf of CASA. The executive director shall not engage in outside employment that will conflict, overlap or otherwise interfere with his/her ability to perform the required duties.
