Description:
The Chelan-Douglas Court Appointed Special Advocate Guardian ad Litem Program (CASA), a 501c3 Washington State Non-Profit Corporation, is seeking to hire an Executive Director starting November 2018. CASA operates as an Independent Contractor serving the juvenile court systems in Chelan and Douglas Counties with state mandated services. This will be a full time position reporting to a Board of Directors and is based in Wenatchee, Washington.

Position overview
The ED is charged with the responsibility of implementing the overall mission and policies of the Chelan-Douglas County CASA/GAL Program. These include:

• Volunteer Recruitment, Training, Supervision and Support

• Fundraising and Grant Writing

• Strategic and Budget Planning

• Management of Ethical and Legal Standards and Certifications

• Work Effectively with the Juvenile Justice System

• Personnel Management

• Financial Management

• Community Relations and Reputation Management


Job Requirements and Preferences

Requirements:

1. A bachelor’s degree or higher.
2. A minimum of five years of management experience and/or a minimum of two years experience working for a CASA program and/or a non-profit or not-for-profit organization.
3. Experience working with volunteers.
4. Fundraising and grant writing experience including managing Federal grants.
5. An ability to manage self and others in an environment that is often stressful due to the nature of the work required and where workloads vary and are unpredictable.
6. A commitment to promoting diversity both in staff and volunteers.
7. Experience in developing and implementing both annual and long range plans.
8. Experience with or a commitment to gain a working knowledge of the juvenile justice system as it relates to permanency planning for neglected and/or abused children.
9. Experience with or a commitment to become knowledgeable about effective treatment of child abuse as well as to become familiar with other local community resources and services available to children and families.
10. A strong empathy for all children and a desire to improve their quality of lives.
11. An ability to develop strong levels of collaboration with the Board, staff, donors, judges and court commissioners, social workers, therapists, educators and others who work in the juvenile court system and the decisions related to the children CASA serves.
12. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.


Preferences:

1. A willingness to adopt a “servant-leader” management style. A servant-leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong and is one who shares power and puts the needs of others first while helping people develop and perform as highly as possible. This requires proficiency in the prudent use of delegation of responsibility and authority.
2. A legal background or experience in working with attorneys in court cases.
3. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of the major Microsoft Office applications, database management, QuickBooks, and an overall ability to manage accounting software, social media and a web presence.
4. Experience with the Hispanic community. Bi-lingual in Spanish viewed favorably.
