Position Title: Executive Director

General Administration

1. Develops budget in conjunction with Budget Committee.
2. Approves program structure to ensure standards compliance.
3. Completion and submission of certification materials to Office of Judicial Administration.
4. Completion and submission of annual program survey to National CASA Association and OJA. and completes the 4-year National CASA Self-Assessment.
5. Assists with annual financial audit
6. Directs traffic for general correspondence.

Program Coordination

1. Supervises and evaluates staff.
2. Secures, monitors, and evaluates student interns
3. Approves the training curriculum and volunteer materials.
4. Approves program purchases.
5. Maintain Court Calendar assuring all case court dates are recorded and court reports are turned in 7 days before court date.
6. Coordinate and document all cases appointed to CASA.
7. Match CASA case with appropriate volunteer.
8. Initiate orders to rescind a CASA from a case after consultation.
9. Consult with each CASA volunteer about problems or concerns and offer suggestions as to an appropriate course of action.
10. Assist volunteers in preparing court reports.
11. Provide final approval for all court reports.
12. File completed reports with the court and distribute copies to interested parties.
13. Ensure that copies of all court orders and reports are maintained in CASA office and are made available to the CASA volunteer assigned.
14. Maintain appropriate documentation in case files.
15. Attend all court hearings when possible.
16. Maintain appropriate communication with other Court personnel, and representatives of DCF, and other agencies involved in cases.
17. Attend Case Planning Conferences as necessary.
18. Responsible for CASA Manager.
19. Gather all data and program statistics and input into CASA Manager.

Program Development and Evaluation

1. Approve program goals and oversee the development of programming to meet the goals.
Community Education and Relations
1. Create and maintain a positive relationship with all court stakeholders.
2. Serves as primary community representative for the agency.
3. Regular attendance at Kansas CASA Association meetings.
4. Provides public presentations to civic, social religious and educational groups in Geary, Morris, Marion, and Dickinson Counties, and Fort Riley.

Financial Management

1. Approves final grant submissions.
2. Approves administration of program funds in accordance with funding requirements in conjunction with the grant writer.

Board Relations

1. Attendance at Board meetings to serve as program/staff liaison.
2. Prepares Executive Directors Report.
3. Provides information to Board and direction and guidance in terms of policy development.

Requirements

1. Education and Experience
Baccalaureate degree of social services, human services, criminal justice, or law and one-year experience managing volunteers preferred. Any combination of education and life experience, which would demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities, needed to perform the duties of the position. Experience in social service agency, volunteer organization, or court related environment with experience recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers preferred.
In addition to the above-mentioned minimum requirements, an employee must have reliable transportation, appropriate vehicle insurance, a valid drivers license, and the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
2. Skills
Must possess the following:
a) Ability to work effectively with people of all social, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds.
b) Ability to relate in a non-judgmental manner and maintain an independent role with individuals and groups within a wide spectrum of problem areas.
c) Ability to manage people and to maintain professional standards for the program including confidentiality.
d) Ability to organize, plan, and implement activities appropriate to further program goals.
e) Good oral and written communication, observation, behavior documentation, and community liaison skills.
3. Other requirements
a) Be at least twenty-one years of age.
b) Successful completion of the following. (1) KBI Criminal Records Check. (2) SRS Child Abuse & Neglect Registry Check. (3) Offender Registration Check.
c) Provision of three professional references from persons unrelated to the applicant
d) Completion of a personal interview
